Wambaw Creek Paddle May 26th

This Saturdays paddle we will return to Wambaw Creek paddling from the stopping point of our last trip and going farther south. This will be an out and back paddle from the put in point as far as the creek provides open water. The distance of this trip depends on unobstructed navigable water. Plan to meet at 10am in Georgetown at the Food Lion parking lot just south of the Sampit River bridge. We will then proceed to the put in on the fire road in the Francis Marion Forest.

Bring water, a snack, sun screen, bug spray and your PFD.

SATURDAY APRIL 14TH PADDLE

Saturdays paddle will be from Garris Landing (formally known as Moores landing) to Capers Island a distance of six miles. This paddle will encompass paddling in the ICW around the south end of Capers Island out into the ocean with a beach landing. Tour kayaks of 14 feet or longer recommended with spray skirts. PFD’s must be worn on all club paddles. We will meet at 7:30 AM at Morse Landing Park in Murrell’s Inlet next to the Hot Fish Club for the purpose of car pooling. It will be a 1.5 hour drive to Garris Landing. Bring water, bug spray, snacks, sun screen, hiking shoes and or swim suits for when we hit the beach.

Awendaw Creek March 25th

Next Sunday’s Paddle (March 25th) will be on Awendaw Creek starting from Buck Hall boat landing. Let’s plan to meet in Georgetown at the Food lion parking lot, highway 17 south of the Sampit River bridge at 7:45 am. We need to be on the water by 9:00 am to ride with the tide. Parking at Buck Hall is $5 per vehicle so if your traveling alone we can transfer boats in Georgetown before proceeding to Buck Hall.
This is a short but scenic paddle up a marsh creek that follows the Palmetto trail. We will break at the Canoe Launch before reversing our course.
PFD’s are required and must be worn on club paddles and don’t forget your whistle. Bring water and a snack and be on time.

PEE DEE RIVER PADDLE NOVEMBER 5TH

This weekends paddle will be on the Pee Dee River from Sandy Bluff to Galivants Ferry a distance of ten miles. This is a leisurely downstream paddle and will require shuttling vehicles from the take out at highway 501 in Galivants Ferry. Plan to meet at the EXxon station at the 501 bridge at 9:00 AM. We will then consolidate boats for the trip to the put in at Sandy Bluff upstream. Bring water, a snack and dont forget you PFD and whistle. Allow at least 1 hour travel time from the beach.

Lake Wateree Paddle Sept. 22-25

This weekends paddle will take place at the Lake Wateree Recreation Area, located off highway 97 near Camden, SC. The rental cabin is full but camp sites are available if you have not already signed up. SUNDAY AUGUST 7TH PADDLE

Our next paddle on August 7th will begin and end at the 53rd street boat ramp, Hogg Inlet/Cherry Grove. Plan on meeting at 9:30 AM at the park next to the boat ramp. This will be a 13mile intermediate paddle including flat water inlet and ocean paddling. We will leave shortly after low tide, take a long break on Bird Island and return through Dunn Sound on high tide. Tour boats with spray skirts recommended for this trip. Bring lot’s of water, snacks, sun screen, and don’t forget your PFD and a whistle.
The 53rd street boat ramp is off Ocean drive Cherry Grove. Take Sea Mountain Highway to end turn left on Ocean drive to 53rd, then left to end.

SATURDAY JUNE 11TH

This is the Longbay Paddlers fun day on the Inlet. All paddlers are welcome regardless of your experience. This is your chance to spend time with seasoned paddlers and work on your paddling skills, practice rescues etc., paddle a different type of kayak or just relax and enjoy the day. We will meet at the park in Murrell’s Inlet next to the Hot Fish Club at 3:30 PM and be on the water by 4:00 PM. This will be a short paddle (approxmately two to three miles round trip) out to the sand bar next to the jetties where we will take a long break before heading back to the park. Following the paddle we will gather at the Dead Dog Saloon.

Saturdays Paddle March 19th

This weekends paddle will be on Wambaw Creek in the Francis Marion Forest south of Georgetown. This is a title creek and will require an early start to insure enough water to float your boat. Lets plan on meeting in the Food Lion parking lot off highway 17 on the south end of Georgetown at 8:00am. The Food Lion will be on your right after you cross the Sampit River bridge on highway 17. From there we will proceed to the boat landing on Wambaw Creek. This will be a paddle in paddle out trip so it will not be necessary to shuttle vehicles. The trip will be approximately eight miles four in and four out unless we decide to continue on to the first log jam farther upstream. Saturdays Paddle February 19th

Our first club paddle of the new year will be this Saturday on the Waccamaw River. Plan to meet at the Exxon station on the corner of highway 9 and 905 in Longs at 8:30 AM. From there we will proceed to the take out off highway 904 in North Carolina where we will drop cars for the return trip. This will be an intermediate paddle, a distance of 16 miles. Kayaks of 14ft or longer recommended. Bring water, a change of clothes, snacks etc.. Just a reminder on all club paddles you must wear your PFD. Air temperature is predicted to be in the 60′s and sunny. We will be leaving cars on private property at the put in at a cost of $2 per car. STURDAY’S PADDLE NOV. 6TH

This will be the last scheduled paddle of the club calendar. We will meet at 9:30am in Galivants Ferry at the Exxon station/restaurant highway 501 and the Pee Dee river. After dropping cars for the return trip we will proceed to the put in at Sandy Bluff off highway 917. This will be a downstream paddle , a distance of 10 miles. The weather report is for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 60′s. Bring water a snack a change of clothes and dont forget that PFD.
