The Punch Bowl Paddle is a beautiful paddle through a cypress forest and the tree house in the middle of swamp area. This trip we will put in at Punchbowl Landing and kayak down to Yauhannah Bridge and Hwy. 701. It’s about a 12 mile paddle down river and low tide at the bridge is 2 p.m. There is a landing about half way that we will take a break. Be sure to bring a lot of water and a spray cannon or anything that will help keep you cool. Also remember everyone MUST wear a PFD, have a whistle and I advise a spray skirt. This is not a difficult paddle and 14 ft kayaks are recommended.
I would like to get started early due to heat. So let’s meet at 8 a.m. at Punchbowl. Contact Ursula Barnes Witherspoon at UWitherspoon@cityofmyrtlebeach.com if you need directions to Punch Bowl (Punch Bowl Rd, Conway, SC 29527), it’s easy.
Right now I am planning to leave my car at the Yauhannah Bridge. I would like everyone who is planning to go to RSVP so we can coordinate the shuttling and we can get on the river before 9 a.m.
