The location for the kayak trip this weekend has changed to Punch Bowl and will take place on Sunday, October 15, with a distance of approx. 11 miles on the water. The group will meet at 7 a.m. at Hwy 701 and Big Pee Dee River Landing. Dave will bring the trailer so many cars can be left at 701.
Hoping to get in on the water about 8 a.m. at Punch Bowl. This trip should take about four hours and will go into the swamp area and after the group passes the tree house the river opens up some and it’s easy paddling down to the 701 bridge. High tide is about 9:30 a.m. at the bridge so by the time the group merges with the Big Pee River the tide will be in their favor.
Please bring snacks and water and as always, PFD (must be worn), whistle, and sunscreen. Closed deck kayaks with a minimum length of 14 feet are recommended. After the paddle the group plans to grab a bite to eat at Captain Buck’s Port Marina.
